Appearance is important to many women and aging plays a terrible toll on the body that has women trying to figure out what they can do to improve their health and appearance. There are several reasons why the body may begin to show signs of age such as wrinkles, while there is no miracle cure to stop the aging process, there are a number of ways to improve the skin which can help you look and feel younger. As skin ages it begins to lose collagen which causes skin to sag, dry out and cause wrinkles that can make you look and feel older than you really are. A change in lifestyle that includes healthy eating and exercise will be beneficial for your appearance as well as feeling physically better.
It is important that you get enough sleep each night to help your body recover and repair itself. It is amazing how much better you will feel and look after a good night’s sleep. It is recommended that people try to get eight hours of sleep, but the majority of people do not allow themselves to sleep this long and although a nap can help you feel slightly refreshed, it does not make up for not getting a full night’s sleep. If you are having problems getting eight hours of sleep due to difficulties in falling asleep or waking up throughout the night, try to be more active through the day, avoid napping, taking a warm bath before bedtime and avoiding heavy meals just before bedtime may help you sleep better.
A poor diet can leave your skin dehydrated and undernourished. Eating healthy will help you look and feel younger by reducing wrinkles and giving you energy. As you age it is very important to keep your body hydrated and adequately nourished. Most fruits and vegetables contain natural antioxidants which keep your body free from the free radicals that cause dry and wrinkling skin. Free radicals and toxins in your body can also be responsible for feeling sluggish and fatigued. Eat plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables and drink plenty of water throughout the day to help keep your body hydrated and to reduce the free radicals in cells.
Regular exercise is the most beneficial thing you can do to help you look and feel younger. Exercise helps to nourish the skin and improve circulation which provides the skin with more oxygen, nutrients and fresh blood. Doing simple, low impact exercise such as walking on a treadmill or riding an exercise bikewill help to draw free radical toxins from your body and improve the condition of skin and the other organs in your body. Walking is a simple exercise that helps to promote the growth of collagen which will decrease sagging skin and wrinkles. Exercise improves your metabolism, immune system, strengthens the heart, burns fat and reduces stress. Typically within thirty days after you begin a regular exercise routine you will begin to notice changes in your physical and mental well-being as well as begin to look and feel younger.
Use a daily moisturizer to keep skin soft and subtle. Smoking constricts blood vessels and reduces the flow of oxygen and nutrients to the skin so if you smoke, quitting as soon as possible will help you to physically look and feel better. Try to maintain a happy attitude. It has been shown that people who have a positive, happy attitude live longer and healthier lives. Stay active and when weather permits, get out in the sunshine for at least 15 minutes each day.
